Makers

 

The Cogency is one of the branches of the Institution. Its officers are called Makers.

The Maker in the opening sequence’s Wilderness expedition is the squadron’s navigator. He is distinguished from the Keepers by his brown uniform, being unarmed, lacking a bandolier, and of course being called “Maker” by the expedition’s captain.

Holman Pressman appears to be a Maker as well - he wears an armband and a brown fedora in public. His work is in producing authorized printed media.
