Joan

Joan is the general of the Hangman’s Horde.

Joan arrives as the Ruckus separately from Hank and the members of the Horde coming from the massacre in the slums and has a brief exchange with Abarth. She suggests Hank’s lack of aggression or challenges is consistent with their “new direction”.

Joan was formerly the general of Abarth’s tribe and is against warfare between the tribes. According to Tim, she has stated it wouldn’t be worth the losses. Joan and Abarth behave as though they are on relatively good terms, though he chides her for believing in “a voice in the Demon’s head.”

Joan is insulted when Hank invites her to join the menage-a-trois she finds him in. She tells him that his brother has been found with a distant tribe to the south.

When dining with the distant tribe, the leader speaks of mysterious creatures that are not man or animal. Joan affirms she has heard “they pull things into the world that can never die - awful things, with eyes like a moonless night.”

As Hank begins to hallucinate at the meal with the mystics, Joan looks at him with concern.

Afterward, Joan and Sid join Hank as he talks to Donnie at the caravan. Joan expresses concern that the horde will “eat itself” if they don’t make a proactive move to serve their goals. Donnie welcomes this resolution, annoying Joan and prompting her to call him “a prick”.
